This past Friday Rufus woke up to balloons to celebrate turning three. My husband and I always stay up a bit later the eve before one of our kiddo's birthdays to blow up ten balloons of their favorite color for them to wake up to. This year for Rufus they were green. Eleanor and Wolfgang knew there would be balloons so they woke up early and shook his crib yelling, "Come on, Ru, let's see what's downstairs!" He was pumped when he saw them and started popping them and cracking up, haha. Happy Birthday, baby boy. After breakfast we got dressed and went out for donuts. He picked pink sprinkles and devoured the entire thing. We went back home and waited for Dad to get home so he could open presents. Eleanor and Wolfgang had gathered toys and placed them in a box and wrapped it in banana wrapping paper. Inside were three shopkins, a thomas mini and a stuffed pig. He loved it. We got him a Thomas set he saw and wanted at Barnes & Noble the week before. That evening we all piled in the van, picked up his bug cake and went out for pizza. It was a really sweet day.
On Saturday we celebrated with family. A bug party per his request. Arick and I thought for sure he would be super shy when everyone gathered round to sing happy birthday, but boy we were SO wrong. He smiled the biggest smile the whole time and it was so wonderful it was almost heartbreaking. Our sweet baby. Our Rufus.
